Operation Legacy

Rosengarten Roofing Partners with Entercom Radio and Travis Manion Foundation

Rosengarten Roofing has recently teamed up with Entercom Radio and the Travis Manion Foundation and its Operation Legacy Project in support of Gold Star Wife Jessica Byrd of Philadelphia donating and installing a brand new roof.

Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) is one of the country’s leading Veteran Service Organizations based right here in the Delaware Valley. The inspiration for TMF foundation comes from its namesake:  1st Lt Travis Manion, USMC, who made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of his patrol in 2007.  TMF carries on the legacy of selfless service and leadership embodied by Travis and all those who have served, or continue to serve, our nation. TMF strives to unite and strengthen communities by developing programs, training opportunities, and events designed to empower veterans and families of the fallen, and then inspire them to pass on their values to the next generation and the community at large.

Rosengarten recently partnered with Travis Manion Foundation and Entercom Radio as part of TMF’s Operation Legacy Program to renovate the home of Gold Star Wife Jessica Byrd. TMF’s Operation Legacy Service Projects bring veterans, families of fallen heroes and TMF supporters together through local service projects uniting communities.

Jessica’s husband, Lance Corporal John T. Byrd, was killed by a suicide bomber in Iraq in 2004, while Jessica was pregnant with their son Elijah. Jessica has turned this tragedy into a life of service.  Jessica serves as an in-home nurse for low-income, first-time expecting mothers.  She also serves as an active volunteer for Travis Manion Foundation, including traveling to Central America to build homes for indigenous families.  Jessica also served as President of the Philadelphia Gold Star Wives chapter from 2006-2013.

Jessica continues to raise Elijah who is now 15-years-old and an honor student.  Jessica also has helped family members who have battled addiction.

Finally, a wonderful new chapter has begun for Jessica.  Jessica and her significant other Ryan, also a US Marines Veteran, who served in the Middle East, just welcomed a baby girl of their own on April 1st named Cadence Marie.

Rosengarten Roofing is our honored to give back to Jessica for her selfless service and to honor the ultimate sacrifice that her late husband, John T. Byrd, made for our country. We partnered with Atlas Shingles and New Castle Building Products to provide the Byrd family with a brand new state-of-the-art roof.  Rosengarten has been serving the Philadelphia-area for over thirty years with the highest quality of certified roofers. Rosengarten is committed to community, faith and providing employment opportunities to those in need.

It is our honor and privilege to be part of this project with Travis Manion Foundation and Entercom Radio.  Jessica continues to serve after such tragedy and sacrifice.  We at Rosengarten continue to “Pay It Forward” in honor of Jessica, her late husband USMC John T. Byrd, and Jessica’s boyfriend and Cadence’s father, Ryan, also a Marines Veteran.
